Saying Goodbye: Celebrating Heather’s Incredible 25+ Years at Interweave Textiles

After more than 25 years of dedication, loyalty, and hard work, our Accounts Manager, Heather, is retiring. As we say farewell, we want to take a moment to reflect on her journey, her contributions, and the legacy she leaves behind at Interweave Textiles.
On Heather’s last day the team enjoyed a celebration full of good food, reminiscing, and sweet treats! We reflected upon Heather’s career and shared some memories from the early years.
A Journey That Began in 1992
Heather’s journey started in 1992 when she joined Webster Weave in the Accounts department, going on to implement the company’s first computer system. When Interweave Textiles took over in 1999, she became the Accounts Manager, a role she has embraced ever since.
Over the years, Heather has witnessed and driven significant transformations in the way we operate. From hand-typing invoices on electric typewriters to moving to a completely paperless system in 2018, she has played a pivotal role in modernising our accounts processes.
A Career of Growth and Dedication
Heather’s initial impression of the company was that it would be a short-term role, as she only worked two mornings a week while raising her young family. However, as her responsibilities grew and her role evolved, she found herself deeply engaged in the company’s progress, increasing her hours and staying on for over two decades.
Her long tenure was also influenced by the close-knit environment at Interweave, the feeling of being valued, and even having her husband as a colleague within the company. She has seen significant changes, from shifts in manufacturing to overseas imports, multiple office relocations, and advancements in technology—all of which she tackled with resilience and adaptability.
A Legacy of Leadership
One of Heather’s proudest achievements has been handling staff-related matters with empathy and professionalism. She largely taught herself many aspects of her role, including navigating challenging HR situations. Her leadership in implementing the first computerised accounting programme and her recent efforts in creating technical specifications for over 1,000 products are testaments to her dedication.
Though she never had a formal mentor, Heather developed strong working relationships with colleagues. She fondly remembers working alongside assistants Janine and Clare and has greatly valued her partnership with Mahmood in recent years, as they complemented each other’s strengths and shared knowledge.
Fond Memories and Final Reflections
Work at Interweave has always been busy, but Heather has appreciated the camaraderie of the team, especially during festive celebrations like Christmas parties. While she jokingly says she won’t miss anything about work, we know she will be missed dearly!
When asked to sum up her time at Interweave in three words, Heather chose: Loyal, Reliable, Appreciated. And that truly encapsulates the impact she has had on our company.
Exciting New Adventures Ahead
Retirement won’t be too quiet for Heather! She plans to spend quality time in Toronto with her two young grandchildren and also dedicate more time to fitness at the gym. As for staying connected to the industry? She doubts she’ll have time, and we can’t blame her!
Heather leaves us with this final message: “I have really enjoyed my working life at Interweave, and now I intend to enjoy spending time with my family.”
Heather, thank you for your incredible contributions to Interweave Textiles. Your hard work, dedication, and kindness have left a lasting mark. We wish you a wonderful retirement filled with happiness, adventure, and well-earned relaxation!
