Interweave take part in Macmillan’s Coffee Morning

This September, our team proudly took part in Macmillan’s Coffee Morning—a nationwide event that brings people together over a cup of coffee and a slice of cake, all while raising funds for those living with cancer. What is the Macmillan Coffee Morning?

Macmillan is widely known for the initiative “World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.” Communities, workplaces, and groups across the UK host their own events, where every slice of cake and every cup of coffee helps raise money to provide cancer support services. Since its beginnings in 1990, the Coffee Morning has raised millions to help Macmillan continue their vital work. In 2022, the event raised £2,070,329.

So, what does this money do? According to Macmillan, here’s an idea of what donations raised can do to support people living with cancer:

• £2,070,329 could cover the cost of employing 33 Macmillan nurses for a full year, providing vital care and support to people living with cancer.

• £846 could fund the creation of a translated factsheet, ensuring cancer information is available to those whose first language isn’t English. These resources are now offered in 15 languages, including new additions such as Turkish, Ukrainian, Pashto, Dari, and Farsi.

• £767 could produce an audiobook version of one of Macmillan’s most popular guides, Help with the Cost of Cancer, making it accessible for people who prefer to listen online or download audio files.

• £350 could fund a Macmillan grant, helping someone manage essential expenses—whether that’s paying a bill, visiting loved ones, or taking a much-needed break with family.

• £71 could keep Macmillan’s Online Community running for over three hours, giving nearly 200 people affected by cancer the chance to share experiences and find support.

 

Our Coffee Morning

Our team set up a Coffee Morning right here at Interweave headquarters. We baked, bought, and brought in cakes, biscuits, and treats to share.

This event allowed us to come together for a meaningful cause and enjoy some homemade treats. The company kindly enhanced the team’s donations, and every pound will go towards providing medical, practical, and emotional help for people affected by cancer.
