Interweave takes part in a fundraising event
In a few weeks time, a small team of Interweave Healthcare staff will take part in a fundraising event called the Big Sleepout. Organised by local Halifax-based charity, Happy Days. The charity provides much needed life-saving support for the homeless in Halifax. More about our ongoing support of Happy Days.
This event involves the fundraisers sleeping out all night in a car park at Dean Clough mill. The fundraisers are being sponsored to take part in this uncomfortable, but memorable, night!
The weather in Halifax on the same date last year dropped to -2 degrees overnight! We’re hoping it won’t be so cold this year, but we’re not taking any chances.
Each team member will be taking sleeping bags, woolly hats and warm clothes. In addition to this, we are going to be testing out the hypothermia prevention products ourselves! The Thermarmour Hypothermia Evacuation bags will be taken along to the event, as well as the Thermarmour Emergency Blankets.
The target is to raise £600 per person. To put that into perspective: Happy Days tells us that it costs £150 per day in building costs to run The Gathering Place. It also costs £300 per day to feed those in need in the Community Café and Community Supermarket. Plus it costs £500 to run the Winter Shelter for 5 nights for 1 person.
