What is a slide sheet?

A sliding sheet is a patient handling aid, used in hospitals, clinics and care homes. When used correctly, the slide sheet is designed to prevent back injuries for the nurses and carers. Useful when moving patients from one bed to another, or to help roll the patient over to the other side.

Made from very slippy material, typically a silicon coated nylon or silicon coated polyester, it ensures that the patient movement is smooth and easy to do.

Some nurses prefer the flat style and will typically use two flats, one on top of the other. Others like to use a tubular style. Alternatively, you can opt to use a flat slide sheet with handles.
