Can you wash a mattress protector?

Mattress protectors can be washed in either a normal domestic washing machine or a commercial laundry washing machine at a regular 40C to 70C temperature. However, as there is a waterproof layer within the mattress protector which typically contains some plastic, it’s important to tumble dry at a low temperature or wait for it dry naturally to prevent the plastic melting.
