These blankets are suitable for all year round use. In warm weather the blankets provide a lightweight breathable layer on the bed. In colder weather, the cellular blankets, when teamed up with other bedding, provide a layer that traps warm air close to the body. Machine washable at high temperatures, the blankets are made from either 100% soft cotton fabric or 100% polyester.

Polyester cellular blankets
The most versatile option, the polyester cellular blanket is available in five different colours to match your environment. Hospitals tend to purchase a variety of different colours to layer up on a bed. Some wards will choose to stick to a single colour and just re-purchase that colour when they need to stock up. You can choose from a single bed size or a baby blanket. There’s also a bright yellow falls risk variety in a lap blanket size – this is used to highlight patients who are at a higher risk of falling.
How do cellular blankets work?
A cellular blanket is designed to have holes in the weave creating a lot of “cells” within the blanket fabric. These holes can be seen in the photo of the Cotton Cellular Blanket to the side. The cells trap warm air to keep you warm in cooler times and let warm air out when necessary to keep your body at the optimum temperature. Therefore, they are ideal for all year round use.
Many people layer up 2 or 3 cellular blankets on the bed to help increase the efficiency of the warming effect.
