Staff interviews: 20 years on
As part of our 20th Birthday celebrations, we were curious to see what the long-serving staff thought had changed within the company over the last 20 years. We spent some moments with a few of the team members who had worked here the longest. Here is what they said:
Heather

The biggest change to the company, and/or in your working day in that time? Technology, particularly in the last 5 years
Funniest work memory? Our old computer technician turning up on-site with better eyebrows and immaculate painted nails!!!

How long have you worked at Interweave? Since 1999.
What does your typical day look like now, in 2019? A lot different to 20 years ago!! Today it’s 50% monitoring key customer accounts spend and their ongoing requirements, 30% purchasing and sourcing and 20% product development

What does our slogan “To help you care” mean to you? The products we supply and the service we provide help our customers care for their customers. What does your typical day look like now, in 2019? My typical day is much busier than a year ago.
And what were you typically doing in a day’s work when you first started working at Interweave? There was a lot more paperwork, and lots of filing to do – that’s all changed for the better now.
The biggest change to the company, and/or in your working day in that time? Moving premises to Lowfields Business Park has been a great positive.
Matthew
How long have you worked at Interweave? 20 years (seems like 200!)
What does your typical day look like now, in 2019? Exactly the same as 20 years ago without the folding and packing of blankets!!
And what were you typically doing in a day’s work when you first started working at Interweave? Everything!
The biggest change to the company, and/or in your working day in that time? Internet, Health & Safety, Nature of Employees.
Funniest work memory? I’ve got a few.. The 30 foot wide entrance gates being stolen overnight and no one noticed they were missing.
Then one day an employee had a pathetic excuse for being late for work due to his shoe laces breaking and the shoelace shop did not open until 10am.
Also, once I accidentally kicked a stray tennis ball when entering the office and it hitting a visiting rep on the side of the head. (He never said a word just carried on his conversation)
What does our slogan “To help you care” mean to you? We always put the needs of customers first.
